We have been so blessed by the adoption community.
It becomes like a family in so many ways.
Adopting is a unique experience and those who have been blessed by adoption share a common bond.
These bonds are even closer between those adoptive parents whose children share the same medical conditions.
We are so fortunate to belong to a special group of parents whose adoptive kiddos all live with Thalassemia of various varieties. Thalassemia is not really common in the United States, so it is a real comfort to know other families who are walking a similar path as your own.
The love and support given to me by these precious women, most of whom I have never met in person, means the world to me. They have provided me with just the right questions to ask, ways to advocate for our daughter, calm my nerves if something didn't seem "right" with Kate and more!
We celebrate together, laugh together, advocate for orphans waiting with this condition together, cry together, vent together… oh my goodness, I could fill the blog with all the support offered to one another.
Imagine my joy when one of my fellow Thal mamas moved less than an hour from us and our kiddos receive treatment at the same hospital AND for the last to treatment days, have done it together!!!
My sweet friend Fannie came home with her little boy, CB just a little over 4 months ago.
He has now been dubbed by Kate as her "boyfriend"…
(Don't tell her, but her Daddy is not going to let her date until she is at LEAST 30!)
We love our Red Cross Volunteers who come in and read to us and do crafts with us to help pass the time! What a treat!!
Kate's new game is ride the IV pole. Don't be surprised if she and CB have a race down the hallway next time!
Sometimes they play together and sometimes just next to each other.
A favorite game is Restaurant. They loved taking Fannie's and my "orders"…
They are just so CUTE together!
This is a friendship I pray stands the test of time.
