This was the first time that Kevin made the connection that people really do worship other God's. He was standing near me while we watched people toss coins at the alter in hopes that the clanking noise garnered the attention of the Gods before they placed their petitions before these false idols. I know that this is a culture deeply rooted in ancestral worship, Shinto and Buddhism. Even knowing this, it deeply grieves me that so many are without the hope that comes only through faith in Jesus Christ, the one true God. I wanted to shake every person I saw and tell them that no matter how many coins they tossed, no matter how many good luck charms they purchased, nothing would provide them the comfort and security that comes only from God. How I pray for the Okinawan people that they may hear and believe the Good News and turn their lives to Christ.
