Resolutions, Resolutions....

Happy New Year to the remaining 3 visitors who even come to my blog:) I am not usually one for New Years Resolutions, but I am going to *try* to resolve to be a better blogger. Here goes...

We have had a wonderful Christmas Break. The Christmas break was ushered in by Andrew's very first Orchestra concert. I was so impressed with this group of young 7th and 8th graders. I know most, like me, cringe at the thought of a Junior High concert of any kind, but this concert far exceeded my expectaions. It was truly delightful (espicially the guy with the bass in the back row!)

After the concert we thought we still had a week of school left. Old Man Winter had different plans for Norther Virginia and we were hit with a massive blizzard dumping what VA is used to getttiing for an entire winter in 24 hours!!! Needless to say the boys were thrilled with the snow days resulting in a longer Christmas Vacation as well as getting to play in their first "real" snow. They were amazed watching it fall from the sky:)

Nothing says "My Dad/Uncle etc has been to Iraq" like these hats Uncle Bill gave teh boys after his last trip to the desert!

We had a wonderful Christmas.  We began our festivites by celebrating a wonderful Christams Eve service at our church.  We are slowly but surely beginning to feel more a part of our new chruch body.  It has been a hard adjustment, but I digress.  After the service we managed to find a Japanese restaurant, owned by Koreans open on Christmas Eve for our sushi eating tradition!  Yum! Christmas day was filled with gift opening, Wii competitions and a deliecious dinner with our dear friends the Matveys.

 

2 days after Christmas we made the trek up to New York to visit Grammy and Papa McDonnell.  We were bummed that my brother and his family were in Disney and we did nto get to see them.  (We are glad they had a FANTASTIC time!!) We did however get to spend a day hanging with our cousin Aiden as he stayed back to hold the fort down.  One of the days we went down to West Point to visit our old stomping grounds and show the boys the REAL Academy!  Scott simply cannot handle his oldest son's insistance on the Naval Academy:)  We were pleased to hear that Andrew thinks he should apply to West Point too.  Kevin said NO WAY to either of them and Sam is still thinkig about it.  He is not so sure about the early rise time at either place;)
