The Wax Museum of Famous Explorers!!!!
Each child randomly chose an explorer. They had to research the significance of the explorer. They were NOT allowed to use the Internet. They learned how to use the card catalog in the library to gain all the information they needed. Andrew drew the name Amerigo Vespuchi. Amerigo is the name sake of our great country! The kids needed to memorize a speech they had written and dress like their Explorer. Students came in and walked through the museum and pushed the button of one of the explorers. At that point the wax statue came to life to tell his or her life story...
Here is our Amerigo....
Sam and his classmates make great spectators!!!
Amerigo Speaks.... (Amy... Note the HP cloak!!!)
An overview of the Museum...
Along with their costumes, the kids needed to make a Museum Artifact with a description card. Andrew chose pearls as Amerigo received them as a gift from Native Brazil and presented them to the King and Queen of Spain as a gift... Here is a mighty fine replica!!!
