On Our Way to Okuma...

Day after Christmas we took Uncle Brad up north to 18th Service's Recreation area, Okuma. We made a couple stops along the way. First we wanted to take Uncle Brad to one of our favorite places to eat... Pizza in the Sky. We navigated the CRAZY narrow streets and drove with our photo directions because it is so hard to find without. The restaurant was "supposed" to be open every day but Tuesday. Those who are local to Okinawa must note that not only is it closed on Tuesdays but on Wednesdays as well. Seeing as how it was Wednesday... We needed to go to the restaurant next door... Soba in the Sky. We all got soba but Sam got spicy spaghetti...loaded with GARLIC (Which we paid for for the next 2 days... PPPPPEEEWWW), Kev and rice and Andrew insisted on the 1,500 yen Seto... baked fish and lots of food we could not identify... No one was terribly pleased and to add insult to injury it took literally 45 mins to get our food. The view was great though!!!
Here is one of the guys waiting for their Soba and Seto...To add a bit of craziness to the drive, there was constriction going on the narrow streets. We literally had to drive UNDER the arm of this crane with one worker telling the other worker not to move his big crane shovel!!!! YIKES!!!
After a nice lunch and an adventurous drive we headed to one of my favorite Okinawan tourist attractions, Pineapple Park!!! The place lives up to it's name in that it is a literal park about pineapples... Here are the guys in front of the park posing with the pineapples...After paying our admission, we stepped right on to these pineapple cars where we learned all about how the pineapple was named and how it came to be a leading export in Okinawa... Very stimulating... Here are the guys in the pineapple car!!!! (No Kevin is not really driving...)
Brad and Scott riding in the Pineapple rumble seat...
Our family under the pineapple doorway....
This is what we would look like if we were pineapples...The men hanging out in the Pineapple Patch....
See you in Okuma!!!!
