Update from Laci's Mom...

Dear Friends,

This is difficult for me to write, because I don't think that words can express exactly what our hearts feel. As you know, the past 45 days have been quite a trial for our family. The only way that we made it through this difficult time was through the peace and assurance through our Lord Jesus Christ and through the incredible support from you. I can not tell you how much your encouragement and prayers have meant to us. In fact, we have been completely overwhelmed by your response. My prayer is that our family will be able to touch other families' lives the way that you have touched ours.

As you know, Laci was hospitalized on Monday, August 11th. She was diagnosed with an unusual condition, cerebellitis, on Thursday and was medivaced to Trippler on Friday. She started recovering well from the cerebellitis and was transferred from the PICU unit to the Pediatric Ward on August 21st. On August 25th, Laci's headaches returned resultining in the diagnosis of bacterial meningitis. This, again, was unusual due to the bacteria that caused the meningitis: acinetobacter. After another 2 weeks in the PICU and 1 more week in the Pediatric Ward, Laci was released from the hospital. She was in the hospital for a total of 38 days. The praise is that Laci experienced two completely different, life threatning conditions and has had a remarkable recovery (thanks to God's grace and all the prayers lifted up on her behalf). Another thing that we are thankful for is all those who cared for Laci; from the techs to the doctors, both at Lester and at Trippler. Laci was care was top-notch and we are very thankful.

We are so thankful to have Laci back with us! Unfortunately, the sad news is that we are moving to Travis AFB. Laci's doctors have recommended this move, so that Laci will be near any pediatric specialists that she might need now or in the future. We will miss everyone so much, but we are comforted to know that God has been the one guiding our path.

Again, "Thank you," does not seem enough to express our feelings about all that you have done for us. You have truly been a blessing to our family.

For those who are interested, I am attatching a document, written by one of Laci's doctors, which summarizes everything.

Please forward this email to anyone you know that has prayed for Laci.

With much love,
Keith, Lori, Laci, Landry, Courtney, and Haley
