839 > 782 {Sunday Snapshot}

Why are these numbers important?

782 represents the approximate number of days that Kate was alive before she became a member of our family.

839 represents the current number of days she has been our daughter and sister.

Kate has now spent more of her life with us than with out us!!

In the adoption world, that is a big deal!

(Even if I am a little late in the game writing about it!!!)

The photos I took this week represent "Nostalgia" or something meaningful to us.

My first photo was of this bracelet my sister in law Amy gave to me.  She picked it up on a trip she took to China while we were waiting for our daughter.  The inscription is a wish for good health.  This was so precious as Kate's health was fragile and something we were in constant prayer over.  

Now this bracelet represents His faithfulness in keeping Kate safe and alive until we could bring her home!

My second photo was of these precious pink shoes.  I bought these as a tangible reminder that Kate was coming.  I prayed they would actually fit her when we got her home.  God, being God, made them a perfect fit!

Home for 27 1/2 months!!!

*Kate talks… ALL. THE. TIME.  I mean all the time.  In a house full of men, she has met their word quota by noon most days.  

*Her favorite thing currently is to bring out all her Princess dolls and make the whole family endure I mean enjoy her make believe stories and songs she calls puppet shows.

*She enjoys going to the boys' sporting events.  Baseball is about to begin and she will be thrilled to play outside at every practice.

*She knows she is meeting all her cousins from my side of the family this summer and she talks every day about "playing with the girl cousins at the Beeeech House".

*She is an iPad guru and can get around to all her games like a champ.  Favorite Ap/Website: ABC Mouse and My Playhome.

*Her letter and sound recognition is coming along beautifully, making this reading specialist smile!

*She can count, but often finds it funny to throw in a misplaced 8 in the mix for grins and giggles.  

*She loves, loves, loves going to preschool and Wednesday morning Bible Study.  She has made some dear friends and the season of "play dates" is about to begin!  She asks all the time now!

*She insists on praying first at dinner.  Her prayers used to just thank God for her family, but now they are for events that happened to her during the day, things that were given to her and her new favorite:  "Chengbin my boyfriend".  He is a sweet buddy from China that gets treatment with Kate.

*Favorite TV shows:  Doc McStuffins, Sofia the First and Micky Mouse Club house

*Favorite Movies:  Mulan and Cinderella

*Favorite Songs:  Twinkle Little Star, Jesus Loves Me

*Favorite foods:  Clementies remain a favorite as do noodles, gold fish

Favorite Brother:  The honor rotates and is announced at Grace during dinner.  Andrew is the reigning champ currently, but that will more than likely change by dinner tonight.  

In many ways 839 days seems like a blink of an eye, but mostly it feels like she has always been with us.  Can't wait for the next 839 days and beyond!
