Outrigger Island

What a crazy and fun week we have had. Our church hosted Vacation Bible School. This year we traveled to the Island of Hawaii! It was a fun ride. I taught incoming 6th and 7th graders with the help of 3 other adults and 4 high school kids. We had a blast. We were so thrilled to average 25 kids a night in our room. This 11 - 13 year old range is often a tough crowd. They are in the mindset that they are a litte to "old" for VBS. I was rather nervous that they would be hard to keep focused on the lesson and into the program. I came armed with Starbursts, a sense of humor and A LOT of prayer. We had a fantastic time!

It is often said that most people who are Christians make that decision before they are 12 years old. Once they pass that age, the percentage of people who become Christians grows smaller and smaller. I knew we had a very tender age group this week. I was so excited to hear our kids' interpretation of scripture and ideas of how to live what we believe. We had a lot of fun playing all the great games and I even got the boys to sing and do hand motions (GASP!!!!) God never ceases to amaze me with what He can do. We had three young men accept Jesus as their Savior this week. What a wonderful week!!! It is so exciting for me to witness someone come to the full understanding of the price that was paid on their behalf. Many of these kids have been in church their whole young lives, but have never fully understood what a personal and loving God we have. He loves us each individually and wants to draw each of us in to that personal relationship with Him. I thank God for the opportunity to see these young people grow in that Love and Knowledge. God let me have a little glimpse of heaven this week. Here are some fun photos of our week....
