Baseball began in Virginia in the end of February. Kevin and Sam have been attending a baseball camp. Last week was the big evaluations. Each player goes around to the different stations and gets a “grade” on his or her ability at that station. There are 3 different leagues: AA is for primarily 9 and 10 year olds with some talented 8 year olds. AAA is for 9, 10 and 11 year olds. Majors is for 11 and 12 year olds and a few 10 year olds. Apparently, after the evaluations the coaches of the Majors come together and “draft” the players they want based on their needs and the players abilities. Kids as young as 10 can get drafted into the majors. Kevin got the call last night that he was one of those 10 year olds!!! He is over the moon to be a member of the Pirates!!! He will play with this team until he turns 13! Here are some Flashback pictures of how it all began!!!
