Needing My Prayer Warriors Again...

Facebook has an amazing way of connecting people we have long since lost track of.  Not long ago I was able to reconnect with an old friend from my grade school days!  We found we had a few things in common after all of these years.  First we both love our Lord Jesus and secondly, we both have a heart for adoption.

My friend Joy has a daughter they brought home several years ago from the Ukraine.  Shortly after we reconnected, she and her husband began their paper chase for their second daughter waiting in Russia.  Last month Joy and her husband spent a week in Russia meeting their sweet little girl; a little girl whom they knew was their daughter the moment they saw her in a photo.  They played with her, loved on her, told her that they were excited to be her new Mommy and Daddy, brought special treats form home, signed the documents with the Russian government, and tearfully told their little girl who is old enough to understand that they would return for her soon.  This is a child who is old enough to understand what a mom and dad are.  She is old enough to understand that she lives in an orphanage with no one to call her own.

Just this week we have learned of Russia's decision to stop allowing adoptions.  As soon as I read this, my heart skipped a beat and I immediately thought of Joy and her family.    We do not know how this decision will affect families in the middle of the process or even at the very end like Joy.  This decision impacts REAL families.  As an adoptive mother, I simply cannot bear the thought of having "known" Kate even through just photos then be told no at the last moment.  I am asking my readers, many who I KNOW are prayer warriors, to plead with the Lord on behalf of Joy and her family.  Please pray that God can open the door so that Joy and many other families facing her same heartbreak may be allowed to proceed with adoptions already in progress.  Please pray for Joy and her husband and daughter at home that they would have peace as God works out the details.  Please pray for Joy's new daughter as she waits, unaware of the decisions her government has made, only aware that somewhere in America she has a Mom and a Dad and a sister who love her so.
