Andrew's first meet of the season was Tuesday.
Andrew ran two events; the 4X800 and the 2 Mile. He does not generally run relays but was a sub-runner during this first meet. He did pretty well considering he had no real practice handing off the baton!
Runners lined up receiving directions from the race official
Getting ready for the pass off...
Way to go to Andrew's teammate L, who had to stretch to make it to Andrew!
And he is off for his two laps. I am not sure of his exact time, but I think he ran 800m in just over 2 mins.
Long and lonely stretch...
Sprinting to the finish and looking strong!
Next event... the 2 Mile! Andrew has been training for this even for two months now. He and Coach Dad have put a lot of thought and time into various workouts to build his speed and endurance. Andrew set a goal to run this first race in under 11 minutes. Last year, as a freshman, he was running well into the 12 minute time frame.
(Photo quality is not the best. I cannot wait to get my camera with higher ISO settings!!!)
He pulled into the lead for 2 solid laps!
Strong 2nd place finish AND he made his goal with a time of 10:55! He is looking forward to watching his time come down through out the season. Let's just say, he bears no resemblance to the runner from freshman year!!!
Debriefing with his personal trainer!
So proud of my runner and his super cute coach!!!
