Sunday Snapshot - Take Me Out to the Ball Game...

Ahhh Baseball season sweet Baseball season!
Oh how we love thee!!!
All sports are fun, but Baseball is special.
Scott and I, along with my parents, had a great time cheering on our players on Opening Day!

We tried something new and we are playing Upward Sports at our local church.  So far, it has been a great experience.  We had a difficult decision in trying to decide the best place to play.  The local rec league here is much more competitive.  While Kevin can play as well as many of the kids on those teams, we feared he would not see much playing time.  We are not "from here" and feared that fact would find him sitting the bench.  He had not played since last Spring since he opted for football this fall, so we decided to ease him back in.  It has proven to be a very good decision for him.  He is meeting more kids he goes to church with and he is gaining his confidence.  I shared with his coach that he is receiving some of the BEST real coaching he has ever had.  Even though they lost their first game, he still felt good about how he played and knew his team had tried their best and were only going to get better.  For Sam, ti has been a wonderful decision!  He gets to be a leader and he also gets to pitch which he loves!  We are looking forward to an awesome season!

Sam had the first game of the season.
(I must preface this with the fact that the blasted chain link fence was NOT my friend as far as photos go!!!)
The Braves took on the Phillies.
Opening Prayer...

Sam put the ball in play at both of his at bats, but did not get a hit.  He was walked once :)

He played a mean first base - his favorite position!

He also got in some pitching!  He had a runner go for home after he fielded the ball.  Rather than throw the ball to the catcher, he charge the plate and tagged the runner himself to make the out.
It goes to show, you can take the boy out of football but you cannot take the football out of the boy!

Next came Kevin and the Mighty Reds (Yes, Leon Moberg, it pains me to say that Kevin is on the Reds... Much like the season L was on the Yankees!!!)
Kevin feeling comfortable at one of his favorite positions - Shortstop

Our awesome coach had these great stickers for the boys' helmets!!!  I LOVE it!!!

Kevin also pitched for 4 innings!  It was a record for him!  He has always been a reliever that went in for an inning maybe two.  He looked comfortable up there and did a great job against a hard hitting team.

 Love watching him play!!

Batting was rough this game - one strike out and the other he put in play but was tagged out at first.  It was a great hit, just right to the glove of the second baseman.

Despite our losses, it was a great day!!!
Man I love baseball season!
I love my boys even more!!!
