We raised him right from the very beginning.
Look how sweet his 8 week old self looks in this Beat Navy gear.
I mean, he is a total hard charger in this picture!
Then this happened...
So many of our fellow Marines are Naval Academy grads...
So many who gave Andrew gifts like this...
When we moved back to the States after 6 years in Okinawa we took the kids on a tour of the Naval Academy. Andrew was starting the 7th grade. It was at this moment the desire to attend the Naval Academy was birthed. He was enthralled with it all. He even got to see the Plebes running around campus during Plebe Summer.
Fast forward 5 years and here he sits.
Accepted into both Army and Navy; two of the finest colleges in the world.
It was a hard choice.
On the one hand was the tradition started by his Dad. So much of him wished to join his Dad in the Long Grey Line. He loved West Point when he visited this past summer.
In the end, he decided he wanted to join his Dad in the brotherhood of the Marine Corps. While we know that you certainly can branch transfer into the Marine Corps from West Point, it was important to him to serve with his classmates.
So....
Andrew signed with Navy this evening.
On 1 July he will join the ranks of some of America's finest men and women and become a Midshipman at the United States Naval Academy.
An we could not be more proud!
Go Navy... Every day but one... Then, Beat Navy :)
