My First Ike Bana Class...

This week I attended my first Ike Bana class! This is a special form of Japanese flower arranging. I know that I am only touching the surface of the true meaning, but Ike Bana represents three layers of life. The highest level is heaven, the middle level represents earth and the lowest represents humanity. Each type of flower used is cut into three heights representing the levels. Do not ask me why then there are only 2 Birds of Paradise flowers. I do not know. I really enjoyed this class and look forward to going again in a couple of weeks. Scott thinks it is an excuse to purchase more pottery...
