Sunday SnapShot: {Sabbath Sunday and 8 Months}

Several months ago I read the book 7 An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess by Jen Hatmaker.  Many things were quite convicting for me in that book.  One lesson I wanted to institute as soon as we felt somewhat settled in our new home was the idea of keeping the Sabbath Holy.  Like many other American families, we have been guilty of not taking that seventh day God created for rest.  We filled it with more activities and with household chores and pretty much anything BUT rest.  Seeing as how we are not a Jewish family, and our services are on Sunday, we decided to honor the Sabbath on Sunday rather than Saturday.  Wow... Can I just say that every one's high at the dinner table included something to do with our Sabbath celebration and NO ONE (other than Kate who we could not understand...) had a low!!!!  Sabbath Sunday was a a smashing success and everyone is ready for next Sunday already.

We spent the entire afternoon (save the one outing we had no choice over for football registration) poolside and enjoying each other's company!  A day of rest indeed!!!

8 Months Home and...

*Kate can be little miss BOSSY!!!  She knows what she wants and is not afraid to let you know!!!

*Is signed up for 2 day preschool in the fall!!! 

*FINALLY calls herself "Kate" (although not all the time)

*Loves to count in random number order

*Loves to sing

*Has discovered the joy of Bing Cherries but makes a major mess when she eats them!

*Loves to help, with absolutely everything

*When you ask "Where are you?" she responds with a loud "I right here, mama!!!"

*When she wears a pretty dress she absolutely MUST show her Daddy and is thrilled when he asks her to twirl! (I think she has him a little wrapped!)
