Brag Fest Just Because...

The end of the school year brings all sorts of ending performances and ceremonies.  It is an exciting and an exhausting time.  We have been so busy lately moving from activity to activity, celebration to celebration, concert to concert with more to come!  Not to mention... I will have earned my Masters in Reading in 3 more weeks but there is a lot that needs to happen between now and then.  That is another post for another day!  This week was full of activity for Andrew and Kevin.

Andrew had major orchestra and chamber commitments!  He had his spring concert.  It was fantastic!  I am amazed at how far these students have come!  It was really wonderful.  At the end of the concert was a small 8th grade music awards time.  Andrew earned honors for being a member of chamber as well as for making it into the All County orchestra.  He also earned a grade of Outstanding during his recent Solo Ensemble competition!  After all these awards were given, Andrew was awarded with 2 more special awards.  One for most improved.  The second was a special award called the Diane Bergdahl Musicianship award.  This recognized his hard work and great attitude during his time at BMS.  He is so thrilled that his name will be engraved on a plaque that remains with the school!  Great Job Big A!!!!  This weekend his 8th grade orchestra performed at Kings Dominion.  They were awarded with a Superior Rating as well as winning the titles of 1st place Middle School Orchestra and Grand Champion Orchestra!!  What an honor for our kids!!!!

This was a big week for Kevin as well. We had his photography club graduation and awards ceremony this week. We walked into the Gym to see the entries all on display and numbers attached to each photo. There was a top row that did not have any numbers on it. Kevin's photo was in this row. I was so excited for him as I knew that meant he place somewhere in the Judge's choice! Kevin had no idea. He thought they forgot to number the top row;) He soon learned that the photos with numbers where the only ones that people could vote for People's Choice. Kevin was thrilled when his name was called as the second place Judges Award for first time Photography Club participants!!!! I was so excited for him!!!
