To China, With Love

I finally broke down and sent Kate a care package from us.  I say "broke down" because I had every intention of waiting until we received our Letter of Acceptance.  Well, I just could not stand it any more.  I just had to send something!!!  We used  Ann at Red Thread.  She is wonderful about gathering what you order and sending it to your child at their orphanage.  We ordered Katie a photo album with pictures of us. Ann had us say who was in each picture and she labeled them in Chinese so that the nannies would have an easier time telling Katie who we are:)  We also sent a bag of candies to share with the children.  Ann also translated a 400 word letter from us.  We asked a whole bunch of questions about Katie's growth and development as well as how she is reacting to treatment for her Beta Thalassemia.   Often the orphanage will respond with an update and ever so coveted pictures of our daughter.  Hopefully Kate the Great will have her package in a few short days!!!   Ann just sent me a picture of what our package looks like:

Dear Sweet Kathryn Li' An Grace,

We love you more than words can say.  We are so excited to come and bring you home!  We are doing everything we can to get to you as fast as possible.
Our hearts ache to have you home with us.  We want to be with you when you are not feeling well.  We want to be with you when you have to go to the hospital to receive your blood transfusions.  We do not want you to ever feel alone again.  It breaks my heart that you need your mama with you right now and there is no one there.  I know your nannies are taking very good care of you and I am so thankful for that.  I am jealous of them.  I want to be the one to hold you when you are sad and to laugh when you do silly things.
I want you to know that Daddy and I think you are the bravest little girl we know!  We are so proud of you!  We are praying that God would place a hedge of protection around you so that you would stay healthy and that your heart would be prepared to meet your new family who loves you so very much!  Not much longer, dear one!  We are coming!

I love you!
Mommy
